150.8 - A Run, At Last

I finally made it to the gym last night. I took the kids with me and left them in day care, and put in a solid 4 miles in 49:15. I walked a lot, but when I ran, I ran hard. I did a couple 10ths at 9:00 and 1.1 miles at 10:00 (spaced out in .5 miles and .6 miles), and then I ran some "hills" at 12:00. It felt amazing to finally move and sweat again.

When I finished stretching, I decided I wanted to do some ab work and pushups. So I did plank on my elbows for a minute and a half, then did plank on my hands for 30 seconds. Then I did 5 pushups on my toes and 10 more on my knees. Gonna work on getting the time and number up on both those exercises. Then I flipped over and did 3 minutes of ab work. I'm just a tad sore this morning, so it was a nice amount of work for my upper body. It took just over 5 minutes and I hope to start doing that routine on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, I passed my strep throat back to Sophie. She started getting a sore throat while in kid's club (I feel terrible that she probably passed her germs around to the kids in there) and sure enough, had a fever when we got home. So we went to the after hours doctor and got her an antibiotic. Poor kid, she's missing her class Valentines party (they finally went back to school today after the snow/ice melted a bit yesterday). I swear, I wiped down every surface I could think of when I found out I was sick last weekend, but it didn't help at all. I'm just praying Luke & Mark don't get it next. I wish I could call someone to fumigate our house.

Tomorrow marks the One Year Anniversary of when I joined LA Weight Loss. I'm sure I'll work myself up into an inspiring post in commemoration of the event. Oh, the anticipation!

Hope you all have a lovely Friday.

Aw, I'm sorry she had to miss the Valentine's party. I always got sick on V'Day. And I would work so hard on my Valentine's box.

Looking forward to that one year anniversary post.

I don't think that any of us have ever had strep - you don't get over it on your own - have to have medicine right? So if we had it - we would know it because we wouldn't get better - right?

I may have told you this before - sorry if it is a repeat. There are two kinds of pushups - military style you have your elbows WAY out and you also run the risk of really messing up your shoulders.

Yoga/Pilates style - your elbows are literally against your body the whole time. Do the yoga/pilates style.

Also the movement is held by your core - so that you are very even to protect your lower back.

If you like the feel of the elbow plank - you can do pushups like this - interlace your fingers but undo the pinkies (so they don't get squished) so they are just next to each other. Forearms lay on the floor so it makes a little triangle. Put your BUTT up in the air. Stay on your toes. Then your head goes down in front of the little triangle you made with your arms and then you lift up a little and brush your chin against your thumbs. so there is a little up and down motion and a little reaching forward motion.

I have the wipes out and wiping - husband - who is NEVER sick has major stomach ill - both ends and looks like death. He either caught it or ate it. I wish I had a bathroom with tile and floor drain so I could hose it down with 409. . .

No one else has gotten sick yet - still holding my breath.

Taking a whole bunch of girls to the movies today - supposed to rain all day - lots of snow on the ground - so flood warnings in effect today.

I'm sorry that Sophie is sick and missed her Valentine's Party.

I'm really pleased you were able to get in a run and workout. I know you felt tons better after that.

I can't wait to hear about your one-year anniversary too! Keep up the great work!
