Yesterday I ran for a total of 16 minutes. Walked 14 minutes. I am a RUNNER. Not fast, 5.0 mph run. But a runner nonetheless. Two 5 minute blocks of running at 5.0 mph. Two 3 minute blocks. Unbelievable that I am a runner.
Next week, I will be running for 20 minutes, as long as I keep on course. I WILL stay the course.
PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION TAKES A LONG TIME AND A LOT OF WORK.

You are a runner! Congratulations! I know you're going to love the freedom it gives you -- all you need for a good workout is a pair of shoes and a place to go.
Sounds like you're following a good, sensible plan too. The temptation is always to build up too fast, but the couch to 5k one is really a smart plan.
Wish I could be at the finish line for your first race. :)

Awesome on the 5 mph! I think it is great that you have challenged yourself on the treadmill by not only walking but incorporating running too. The first time I lost 25 pounds I was walked on the treadmill - just slow steady walks at 3.2 mph; 3.5 mph if I was feeling frisky.
This time around I started to push myself and set the speed to 4 mph to see if I could walk that fast. I was forced to jog it and to my surprise managed 3 minutes. I started doing intervals: 3 minute walks at 3.2 mph, 3 minutes jogs at 4.0 mph and pretty soon I was able to jog .25 mile (one lap) at the faster speed. I sped up to 4.2 mph and it was a more comfortable jog. You have inspired me to jump back on the treadmill (I have made many excuses to stay off it the last 3 weeks). I am not a runner but I might be working on becoming a jogger! - AJ
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you -- you are doing great. Maybe one day I will run! Keep up the good work.
